To access the catalog and see what we have in print or eBook click here.

To circulate eBooks (and regular print books), you need to have a Proprietor listed on your account. In order to become a Proprietor, it is a one-time $50 fee. Please email members@socialaw.com for more details.

Before you begin using eBooks please read the following:

  • The most important thing to do is login to your account. This will allow you to see if an eBook is available to check out.
  • The fastest and easiest way to read an eBook is through the LexisNexis Digital Library. No hardware or software is needed to access them. You can open, and flip through the eBook right in your browser.
  • All titles are 1 book, 1 user except for dedicated Index volumes which do allow multiple users.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What is my username/password?
Your login for eBooks is the same as your database login. If you do not know this or you need to reset your login please contact the Circulation Desk at 617-226-1500 or frontdesk@socialaw.com.
  • I thought the eBooks were on Overdrive why are they now on LexisNexis Digital Library?

The LexisNexis Digital Library is hosted on the Overdrive platform.

  • How do I find an eBook?
If you are searching in the catalog, you can limit your search results on the side menu bar to only eBooks under FORMAT.
  • How will I know if an eBook is available to check out?
Underneath the title the status will read Available (0 of 1). If it is not available you can place a hold.
  • How long do eBooks get checked out for?
Like items in our current print collection, eBooks are checked out for 7 days at a time. Unlike our print collection, the eBooks are automatically checked back in and taken off of your account when the 7 days has passed. Three days before the due first date, you are given the option to renew the book for an additional 7 days.
  • Is there a limit to the number of eBooks I can check out?
Yes. Patrons have a limit of 10 titles per user.
  • What devices can be used to access and read eBooks?
Any desktop, laptop or mobile device can.  Please read the troubleshooting information provided by OverDrive for your specific device here.
  • Do I need to download software to use this?
    No.
  • How to return an eBook?
eBooks are automatically returned when the 7 day loan is up. To return them sooner, from the ‘my books’ section you can click the clock icon and select return or renew. From the catalog just click the return button.

If you are experiencing any technical problems or have issues accessing content please contact the circulation desk at (617) 226-1500.
