Who We Serve
Law Firms, Solo Practitioners, Massachusetts State Employees, and Charitable Institutions
Lawyers and staff working for the Massachusetts state government can benefit from membership at the Social Law Library through access to a wide range of legal research tools and services tailored to the needs of public sector attorneys. The Library offers a comprehensive collection of Massachusetts-specific resources, including administrative decisions, regulatory materials, legislative histories, and both current and historical case law. If you need comparative law in another jurisdiction, the library also has access to a wide range of 50 State Surveys and subject area treatise for other states.
The Social Law Library is a vital resource for solo practitioners, helping to level the playing field between solo attorneys and their counterparts in large law firms. Its mission is grounded in providing access to high-quality legal resources, tools, and services that might otherwise be out of reach for solo practitioners who don’t have the same extensive infrastructure as larger firms.
IRC § 501(c)(3) charitable institutions whose primary activities are law-related may enroll their legal staff for membership in the Social Law Library free of dues charges. Members gain access to the Library’s comprehensive legal collection, specialized databases, and the expert support of Reference Attorneys. This complimentary membership strengthens the research and educational efforts of mission-driven organizations by providing reliable access to both historical and current primary and secondary legal materials.
Social Law is winner of three first place awards in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Reading Rankings survey.
