PRESIDENTS AND THE PRESIDENCY: RESOURCES IN THE COLLECTION

Posted: Jan 19, 2017

The Social Law Library is best known for its comprehensive law book collection.  Over the last two centuries the Library has also acquired a respectable number of works about American history and political science, many of them donated by members.

As a new president takes office in Washington, we’re highlighting books by and about presidents and the presidency. Among them are collections of official papers, biographies and autobiographies, as well as historians’ assessments of the achievements and failures of every president from Washington to Obama.

We’ve gathered a sampling of these books for display in the Fourth Floor Reading Room. Come take a look at The Writings of Thomas Jefferson; Lincoln; Woodrow Wilson As I Know Him; Presidential Secrecy and the Law, and many others.
