On
Wednesday, June 12, 2002 there was a ceremony held at the Social
Law Library, in the Main Reading Room, to announce the naming of
the so-called "old Courthouse" as the "John Adams
Court House".
Supreme
Judicial Court Clerk for Suffolk County Maura Doyle acted as the
Mistress of Ceremonies.
In
attendance were Jane Swift, Acting Governor; Thomas Finneran, Speaker
of hte House of Representatives; Senator Robert Creedon, Chair of
the Joint Committee on the Judiciary; Margaret H. Marshall, Chief
Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court; Christopher J. Armstrong,
Chief Justice of the Appeals Court; Robert J. Brink, Executive Director
of the Social Law Library; Secretary Kevin J. Sullivan, Executive
Office for Administration and Finance.
Mr.
Dana Whiteside sang the National Anthem and "God Bless America".
The
ceremonies were begun and concluded with the Massachusetts Trial
Court Officers Honor Guard, with the assistance of the Middlesex
County Volunteers Fife & Drums.
