Pending completion of the work of the SJC’s Committee on Juror Voir Dire, the Superior Court’s new Standing Order 1-15 provides an interim procedure for the implementation of the new jury voir dire statute.
Both judge and lawyer members of the SJC’s Committee will present a nuts-and-bolts look at lawyer participation in jury voir dire pursuant to the Superior Court’s interim order. Among other topics, the panel will provide
• An overview of Jury Voir Dire now and in the future
• A How-it-Works summary highlighting S.O. 1-15’s essential provisions and crucial procedures
• A description of the various methods—and and the mechanics—of lawyer participation currently approved by S.O. 1-15
• A lawyer’s perspective: Approaches to voir dire under S.O. 1-15:
• Protocols for the so-called Voir Dire Pilot Project
